Overview

New investment firm prioritizing UX and design innovation. To meet this demand, I initiated a transformation in our product development approach, expanding our team from 5 to 12 members and integrating UX research into all 18 enterprise applications.

As a Product Design Manager, I strategically expanded our team and recruited top talent to drive innovation. I championed the integration of UX research into development processes, overcoming resistance through effective communication and stakeholder engagement. By facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing, I ensured alignment with project objectives and timelines. My role also involved monitoring progress and analyzing outcomes to iterate and enhance design innovation.

The Challenge

I faced several challenges, including limited resources and resistance to change, while navigating a company new to design thinking. Integrating design practices with existing processes proved difficult, and the lack of user testing and analytic tools further complicated the development. Despite these obstacles, I worked to overcome these barriers and drive effective solutions.

  • Resistance to Change
  • Company New to Design Thinking
  • Integration with Existing Processes
  • No user testing and analytic tools

Result

Our team expansion led to significant improvements, with the addition of 7 UX professionals across the US and EU, including 1 specialist in UX Research and 6 with over 3 years of research experience.

We successfully implemented UX research with an estimated 60 activities last quarter across all 4 domains, supported by a resource library of 30+ templates and tools like Maze and Pendo. Adoption rates were high, with all 12 designers actively engaging with the UX research library, which was also shared with over 20 CS and Product Managers. I introduced design thinking to over 600 developers and stakeholders, driving UX insights that influenced the future state of our top 5 apps. Customer engagement saw impressive results, with over 90% participation in user sessions and a 5/5 rating for the future prospects of our apps.

The goal of user research is to understand the user's needs and desires in order to create a design that aligns with their expectations and enhances their experience.
